Our 2009 Valentine Card

About 7 years ago, I took a similar picture of Cade in this exact Cupid get-up. Caught ALOT of grief from Rusty for doing it, too! But I've gotta say, Lydia is just as cute as Cade was in his photo. I'm still trying to figure out the digital scrapbooking feature of my photoshop software, so it's not perfect, but neither am I and I'm more than OK with how it turned out.

Lydia's Day Out/Mom's Retail Therapy

Piggy!

Petting the smaller "beh-beh".

Stomping on the letters.

Couldn't get enough of this slide.

Love the little tongue!

Waving and making new friends the whole time.

Lydia and I got out of the house today to get a little retail therapy for me. Because let's face it, if Mom's not happy, nobody's happy. And I was crawling up the walls ready to get out of the house and do SOMETHING. Lydia is the best shopping buddy, too. Just as long as I have plenty of Cheerios and cah-cahs (crackers). After I had done the necessary damage required to get my fix, I took Lydia to the little play area in mall for the first time. She loved it. She loved how she wasn't the smallest one there. She loved the slide, the pig, the cah (car), the plane, the caterpillar and the letters on the carpet.

You Decide...

Perhaps a future ballerina...

...stretching and warming up her feet at the barre...

...or perhaps something a little more, shall we say, hornery...

...like, say, trying to elevate oneself on top of the table...

Sooo...one of us (Rusty and I) thinks Lydia is trying to climb up on the side table and the other one (I'm not saying WHO) thinks she's "just putting her foot up there." What do YOU think?

Parents As Teachers Day

Yesterday our Parents As Teachers educator, Melanie, came over and Lydia was in rare form. From kissing the babies in the book, to clapping sideways (there's no easy way to explain it, you just have to see it), she was putting on a pretty cute show.

Guess What We Did Tonight...

It was that time again. We watched the Charlie Brown Valentine special, "Be My Valentine Charlie Brown." I absolutely love this tradition.

It's Official!

I have the cutest nieces in the world. This is the newest edition to our family, Eliana Rose. My sister Teresa had her Friday at 7:52 p.m. She gave us all a bit of a scare at first, but she is doing fine now. I couldn't be more proud of this little girl and her mamma.

I can't wait to hold this little angel (that is if Lydia doesn't mind!) and look forward to watching her grow and watch my little sis become a mommy!

Just A-Swingin' (Or Not)

Ummmm...Mommy? What's going on?

Baaaaad idea.

Ahhh...terra firma!

So the weather was beautiful the last part of the week so we went for walks, went to the park, tried to get in a photo shoot and...we tried out Lydia's swing that she got for Christmas. Turns out she's not such a big fan of the swing. Not sure what happened between now and way back in October when she loved the swing at Aunt Steph's house. Could it be the swing itself? It is different. Or could it be that it dangles about four feet off the ground and sits a little too far back for Lydia's comfort? I'm gonna go with the latter. Maybe we'll get another few nice weather days soon and try it again.

Pigtails!

Giving me "pretty eyes".

This one was originally a bit out of focus, so I tweaked it a bit with a soft glow.

Now, Mommy, you know I'm eating my favorite crackers right now, so you might not get any good pics.

Lydia's hair has been long enough for two pigtails for some time now, but it wasn't until today that she actually stayed still long enough for me to put them in her hair. Doesn't she look so cute? I thought I'd lose them during her nap, but as you can see, they did just fine.

MVP Day at Mater Dei

Whispering a joke or something funny to Rachel.

I'm not sure what this tattoo means, but it was hard to miss.

The Three Amigos

Hard at work.

Last Friday was MVP Day at Cade's school. The kids got to pick someone to come to school with them and this year Cade picked me. We started our day off with a mini concert with each class singing a couple songs. Then we went up to the classrooms. Cade's teacher, Miss Totten had the kids play a game called Body Jeopardy. Isn't that clever? They got to pick the topic and dollar amount and everything just like the TV gameshow. The kids even sang the Jeopardy tune when somebody would take too long answer.
