Giants go extra inning to win!

Getting geared up to play catcher.

Is he the catcher or a goalie?

What a view!

Third base.

Did anybody else get out at 8:30 last Saturday morning? Oh my gosh! It was way too cold for a baseball game! Lydia and I were hanging out in the back of the Sante Fe and this was my view for the entire game, through my zoom lens. It actually was pretty nice and cozy back there, just the two of us, out of the wind and cold. The game was tied 6 all at the hour forty five minute mark/5th inning, so they went one extra inning and the Giants won 9-8. The poor, frozen little guys didn't even realize they had won until the coaches said, "Go out and shake their hands. You won!"

The Giants Win! The Giants Win!

Pre-game posing.

Warming up before the game.

Hey, batter!

Playing second base.

Pitcher

Left field and really hoping the game ends soon!

Whew! Game over!

The final score.

Cade had his first baseball game this past Saturday. Unfortunately, Rusty wasn't able to attend because he was still in Branson fishing, so he has only my account of the game to rely on for the details. As it were, my attention was split between Cade and Lydia, whose usual afternoon nap happened to fall right when the game started. So from what I remember actually seeing, Cade got a single and was able to get two runners home. He also had a ball hit to him while he was at pitcher but his throw was just a split second behind the runner. I've never known a longer hour and 45 minutes in my life! We celebrated by having Spangles for dinner (Cade's choice, of course).

It's Official!

Cade getting ready for his final day of testing in his swimming lessons.

Bobbing...

Forward crawl...

More testing...

The backstroke...

He passed!!!

Well, how did these get here???

While Rusty was in Branson fishing with the guys, Cade passed the last level of swimming lessons that the YMCA offers! He passed piranhas with flying colors. If he wants to continue swimming, his next step would be to join a competitive swim team. The Y has one, the Tortugas, but Cade said he wants to take a break from swimming and just have baseball for now. Also, Lydia had a mini photo shoot. Had to show off these two. I just love these flower headwraps I got for her! I'm sure you'll see more and more of them in the photos to come. Curse you Ebay!!!

Lydia's new bag of tricks

Lydia seems pretty proud of her new "tricks"

She's grabbing her toes!

And she's scooting...

...and scooting...

...and scooting...

...and scooting...

...and she's off!

Rusty walked into our room to check on Lydia the other day and saw that Lydia was awake. He came and told me, "Lydia's awake and playing with her feet." I was incredulous and had to see for myself and sure enough, there was our sweetie, grabbing her feet! Pretty sure it was the first time she did it because we hadn't noticed her doing it before. Now, as you can see from the pictures, she's an old pro!

Fun weekend

How many Great Grandmothers do you know who would sit down and play "Gassy Guss" and giggle along with a six year old?
Man, how boring do we have to be to make Great Grandpa Chuck fall asleep right in the middle of all the mayhem of watching the Masters on TV? You might notice the "fun" Cade had with Chuck once he noticed Grandpa was asleep.
Lydia loving on Great Grandma Rose
The kids had a real treat this weekend with tons of visitors! First Grandma Pat and Aunt Gigi stopped by for a bit on Friday. Then my Grandpa Chuck and Grandma Rose Barnett finally made it back from their winter place in Texas and stopped by Saturday to see us and the kids. On Sunday, it was our other Grandparents, Ed and Marjorie Dennis and Rusty's parents who stopped by after we had lunch for Grandma Marjorie's birthday. Must be something about that chair and Great Grandpas because Grandpa Ed fell asleep, too!

What now?

Now that basketball season is over, we don't quite know what to do with our Saturdays. Nearly every Saturday since September I always knew to put out everybody's KU gear to wear to get ready for game day. And what a ride! The Jayhawk's win at the Orange Bowl and now National Champions in basketball sure have made us glad to be Jayhawks! I'm going to miss getting out our "lucky shirts": Rusty's Fighting Manginos, Cade's shirt is pictured here, mine was a Christmas gift from the kids, and Lydia had a whole line up of gear she could go through, should she pee, puke or poo on them, but she always had on her lucky KU bow.
I guess I will be spending some of the time updating this blog! There's also the many, many baseball games Cade will be playing starting next weekend. Really looking forward to it and I expect to be putting up pictures of that as well. So for now, until the start of football season, ROCK CHALK!
