Oh, The Things We Learn!

Ever consider all the nuances, control and skill it takes to feed yourself? The other day when Lydia was trying to feed herself, it became apparent to me just how difficult it really is to hold a fork, spear a piece of food and proceed to accurately put said food into your mouth . Even with opposable thumbs, it's quite challenging. Here are a few pics of Lydia trying to do just that. It definitely has a learning curve and Lydia is patiently trying to learn the gross motor skills and control of her little hands and wrists required to handle a fork like a pro.

Really? You're taking pictures of me while I'm eating breakfast? I haven't even brushed my hair yet. Thanks, mom. Love ya.

Getting a new angled approach to the 'nanas.

Jabbing, stabbing and spearing away.

Success at last!

Once the 'nana is on the fork, we have to turn the fork around for better control, right?

Maybe if I lift the plate just a little...

Last bite! Last bite!

Flying her happy plate around.

Admiring a job well done.

Just A-Swingin' (Or Not) Take 2

Cade doing a little spring training.

Catching a glimpse of the other "beh-beh" in the window.
{Her own reflection.}

Her supermodel face.

Cutie pie.

Trying to hide behind her shades from the paparazzi.

Wanted to be just like mom.

There's gotta be a better way...

OK...I'll try it again...if you guys insist...

Hrmmmm...not too sure about this...
{Cade's hand is on her shoulder and he's reassuring her that it'll be OK}

Mmmmmm....not feeling it...

Nope. That's it.

Get me outta here!

So we tried out the swing again last week since the weather was SO beautiful. Lydia gave it the ol' college try but wasn't having it again. Oh well. We'll keep trying. She definitely enjoys being outdoors, though. Just wish the ol' fort was a little more toddler-friendly.

80's in Kansas in February?

Rollin'...in my 5.0 with my ragtop down so my hair can blow...

Lydia's new sweet ride.
{This was Cade's car when he was a tot. I'm thinking I need to add some streamers, ribbons, glitter or something to girlie it up.}

Taking her wheels out for a spin down the block.

The race is on!

Cade's getting ready to lap you, Lydia!

Handsome.

Weee!!!

Faster, Daddy, faster!!

She came to play!

You're still taking pictures?

Precious moments.

Drawing just like brother.

Lydia had to get into the middle of things...

Lydia was COVERED in chalk when we went inside. Which, by the way, she was NOT ready to do. As you can see, most of the chalk is on her backside. She was not happy with me for taking her inside. Somehow all that chalk got transferred to the neck and shoulder area of the front of my shirt while I carried her in. Can you visualize this? Believe, me it was quite the struggle to get her cleaned up.

Last Basketball Game

Pre-game shoot around.

Pre-game prayer.

Open under the basket.

He plays like he practices and practices like he plays.

Once again, under the basket and WIDE OPEN!!

All Lydia wanted to do during the game was to run onto the court and climb up on this goal like all the other kids.

Shooting 2 from the line.

His new pre-shot routine.

He shoots! He scored!

This was Cade's last basketball game of the season. It was also the first time he ever had to shoot free throws. He went 1 for 2 from the line.

Last Basketball Practice

Resting on the sidelines.

On his man like white on rice.

D-ing up.

"Gimme the rock!"

Cade's getting in the zone.

This one just cracked me up. The ball crossed in front of me right when the shutter opened!

Schoolin' his old man.

Last Thursday was Cade's last basketball practice and the parents got to scrimmage against the boys. I didn't get to see much of it since Lydia kept me busy chasing her around.

Oh yeah, and something seems to be going wrong with my camera and/or lens. It's not focusing properly in auto mode. Anybody have any idea what might be going on?
